PESHAWAR: The Chinese government on Saturday offered assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the rehabilitation of the October 26 earthquake affectees.
The assistance was offered by the Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong during a meeting with the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak here, said a handout.
The ambassador expressed grief over the loss of lives and damages caused to properties by the earthquake, saying the government and people of People’s Republic of China stand by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and earthquake affectees in this hour of trial.
He said that China and Pakistan enjoy strong brotherly relations and shares each others’ grief and joys.
Both the leaders discussed matter of mutual interest, particularly investment opportunities and other development projects like construction of Swat expressway, generation of power through hydel, promotion of education and oil and gas exploration.
The chief minister thanked the Chinese ambassador for extending support to the government and emphasised the need for Chinese investment in development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
