LAHORE: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the expansion phase 14 of its Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in 10 selected districts to further extend free school education to deserving children. These districts include Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Sargodha and Sheikhupura. This scheme is offered in certain union councils of these districts where people from the lower echelon of the society dwell and they need free schooling of their children.
A PEF spokesperson said NGOs and profit-earning or non-profiteering institutions applying for partnership must have three years relevant experience, adding the partnership could be made in individual as well as in institutional category. Similarly, individual private school owners can also apply for partnership if their schools are working in the same union councils (UCs) for the last three years. It is pertinent to mention here that PEF pays Rs450 for primary, Rs500 for middle and Rs600 for secondary level students to its EVS partners under this scheme besides providing free textbooks to the students. PEF holds quality assurance test of these students every year to check the academic standard of EVS partners.
