ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Finance took a strong exception to the Axact scandal of issuing fake degrees as it summoned relevant details from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Senate Standing Committee on Finance Chairman Senator Saleem Mandviwalla summoned the top guns of Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for probing the fiasco of Axact for issuing fake degrees. The committee would hold an exclusive meeting on this important matter very soon.
“The Finance Committee has taken serious notice of the alleged involvement of a well-known software firm Axact in the fake degree scam,” the chairman of the Senate panel said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
He said that the committee would thoroughly probe the matter as it had earned a very bad name for the country.He said that the Committee would look into all aspects in details and would formulate recommendations to streamline the affairs in the best national interest. “We will not allow any individual or a conglomerate to fleece the people,” Mandviwalla remarked.
