LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday submitted a resolution against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in the Punjab Assembly for his remarks against the army.
The resolution was filed by JI parliamentary leader Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar. The resolution demands the federal government to take notice of Altaf Hussain’s speech and ban the Karachi-based party for the hate speech delivered by its chief against security institutions of the country.
In that resolution, the JI demanded of the government to bring Altaf Hussain back to the country and run the case under Article 6 against him in the court.Earlier, MQM chief Altaf Hussain in a late night address had criticised the military and said the party had always been discriminated against.
“Those who surrendered are called patriots while the founders of Pakistan are dubbed traitors,” he said.Altaf claimed that those in the corridors of power had never accepted them as “sons of the soil”. He said that “Pakistan would bear an irreparable loss, if atrocities against us [the MQM] are not stopped”.
