QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution condemning Altaf Hussain’s statement against the army.
The provincial assembly demanded of the federal government to bring back ‘the head of the fascist organisation’ Altaf Hussain to Pakistan though Interpol and register a treason case against him. The House also demanded a ban on such fascist parties.
The joint resolution was moved by provincial ministers Sarfraz Bugti, Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Shaikh Jaffar Mandokhel, Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hasni, Haji Muhammad Khan Lehri, MPAs Zamrak Achakzai (ANP), Abdul Rehman Khetran (JUI), Prince Ahmed Ali, Shahida Rauf, Nasrullah Zehri, Syed Liaquat Agha (PkMAP), Rahila Durrani (PML-N) and Haji Muhammad Islam.
Both the members of the treasury and opposition benches supported the resolution which described the MQM chief’s speech as intolerable and demanded appropriate action in this regard.
Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said The MQM chief’s speech falls under Article 6 of the Constitution which demands strict action against such a party.
Members belonging to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and National Party in their speeches said the armed forces safeguarded the country’s sovereignty and integrity and no one should dare use such objectionable remarks against them.
The resolution read: “Chief of an ethnic group in his speeches used hate words against the country’s institutions particularly the armed forces. These words fall in the purview of treason. These are condemnable.”
“There are proofs of involvement of the ethnic party, which had made Karachi its hostage, in terrorist acts in Karachi . Their elimination is very much necessary.
“The Balochistan Assembly and people of the province while strongly condemning such act demand action against the MQM leader.”
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui said that the MQM chief’s mere apology against the armed forces and other national security institutions for his offensive and distasteful remarks was not enough.
Speaking at a function organised by a local trust in Lahore, he said that while the armed forces were rendering immense sacrifices in their fight against terrorism, the highly obnoxious and offensive remarks of the MQM would only benefit the enemies of the country, who were bent on destabilising it at every cost.
Siddiqui said that the enemies of the country have become nervous and panicky over the Chinese investment and they were hatching conspiracies to derail the project, which will be a game-changer.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to table a resolution in the Sindh Assembly against the hate speech of Altaf Hussain against the armed forces.
The decision was taken at a meeting of PTI’s Karachi Division. Samar Ali Khan, while speaking to the media, announced that his party would submit the resolution in the provincial assembly against Altaf Hussain’s speech on Monday.
