PFUJ takes exception to FIA notice to journalist
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) has taken serious notice of issuance of attendance notice under section 160 of CRPC by anti-terrorist wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Section is a punishable section if notice remains noncompliance.
In a press statement on Saturday, PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi condemned the behaviour of FIA officials who even ignored seniority of a journalist apart from right of maintaining confidentiality of his source of information which he attained on former judge of accountability court late Arshad Malik.
“We want immediate withdrawal of notice by anti-terrorist wing of FIA and demand respect for journalists right of maintaining secrecy of his source of information,” the journalists’ leaders said.
Nadeem Malik, president of a private TV channel, is a senior journalist and anchor having respect in his followers and viewers and known for credible stories and television content, the PFUJ leadership said.
