As many as 107 MBBS graduates were awarded degrees by the FUI chancellor. The chief guest also awarded 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 3 distinction certificates and 38 merit certificates. The award for ‘Best Graduating Student’ was clinched by Marium Sohail. Cash prize was also awarded to the graduate.
In his welcome address, Foundation University Islamabad rector highlighted the progress and academic excellence FUI has achieved in the past years. He said Foundation University is committed to produce innovative, internationally competitive graduates committed in the development of Pakistan and capable of providing leadership in civic, business and public service of the country. He said, the FUI is fully aware of the new advancements taking place in the field of medical education and is taking all measures to keep pace with the modern trends in imparting education. “Conventional modalities of teaching in the form of lectures, seminars, classroom laboratory teaching has been replaced by integrated modular systems like PBL (Problem Based Learning) which is more patient oriented and evidence based,” he added.
The chief guest Lieutenant General Muhammad Alam Khattak, in his address, said that the Fauji Foundation is doing a great national service in assisting the public sector in providing health care and education. The commendable role being played by Fauji Foundation towards these two cardinal pillars of our social sector is praise worthy. He said, it gives me great satisfaction to note that ever since its inception the Foundation University has progressed at a remarkable pace and has set a very high standard of academic as well as administrative excellence in the domains of Medicine, Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts in a relatively short span of time.
He appreciated the University efforts to have within its fold a Medical College, a State of the Art Dental College, an Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences and a 750 Bedded Teaching Hospital capable of meeting healthcare requirements of the twin cities in almost all specialties. He hoped that the University would flourish and excel in the years to come.
He congratulated all the graduated students particularly those who received medals and merit awards for their outstanding and distinguished academic performance. He advised the graduates that they must not consider this success as the accomplishment of their goals. This achievement only marks beginning of a persistent endeavour to learn and contribute for the service of humanity in general and the nation in particular.
