Punjab CM visits gang-rape victim’s residence

Gives Rs500,000; orders arrest of Sadr, City SHOs

MUZAFFARGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed DPO Malik Awais to arrest Sadr and City police stations SHOs immediately and warned him that he will be suspended if he fails to arrest the nominated accused in the gang-rape case.
The CM ordered this during his visit to the gang-rape victim Sonia Bibi’s house in Mauza Gouriwala who had committed suicide for not getting justice on Tuesday. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the DPO to arrest Sadr police SHO Munir Khan Chandio and City police SHO Bilal Khan Pathan for their negligence while handling the case. The CM expressed his condolence with Bakhshu Mai, mother of the rape victim, and gave her compensation cheque of Rs 500,000. MPA Hammad Nawaz Khan Tipu, IGP Mushtaq Sukhera, DCO Hafiz Shaukat Ali, AC Saifullah Bhatti, SP Investigation Rao Arif Aslam, City Press Club president Khalid Mehmood and Information Deputy Director Furqan Haider were also present.
