KP CM says modern tech key to meeting challenges

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Sunday formally launched the e-governance of contractors and firms that would benefit as many as 7000 contractors of the province.

The chief minister inaugurated the e-registration of contractors and firms by the Communication and Works Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, said a handout. The chief minister said that e-registration of contractors was another milestone towards e-governance system in the province.

He said the role of the C&W Department was appreciable for converting the dream of the provincial government for e-governance into reality. Mahmood Khan stated that the use of modern technology was obligatory to meet the challenges of the modern era. “This is the only way through which we can achieve our targets regarding socioeconomic development and prosperity,” he stated.

Earlier, Minister for Communication and Works Akbar Ayub Khan briefed the chief minister about the e-registration. He said in accordance with the demand of Pakistan Engineering Council, an easy and uncomplicated mechanism for e-registration of contractors and firms has been introduced in the C&W Department.

Previously the manual registration was done by 12 to 15 departments separately and the process was very long and complicated. “Now, after this successful initiative, the registration of contractors would only be done through Communication & Works Department, that would surely save the time,” he said.
