Sindh Rangers on Monday handed over Moazzam Ali Khan, the alleged facilitator of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq’s murder, to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The court was informed that the accused would be remanded to the FIA so that they may interrogate him regarding the case.
A letter issued by the Sector Commander of the Sachal Rangers declared that under the federal government’s orders, an NOC was issued on June 27 empowering the FIA to hold Khan under interrogation.
The referred letter was also presented before an ATC.
Earlier after his arrest, he was produced before an ATC which had granted the Rangers personnel to hold him under a 90-day preventive detention.
Arrested on April 13 by Rangers personnel from his residence situated in Federal B Area, Block 8, Azizabad, Khan’s spouse Sadia Bano had on April 14 filed a petition with the Sindh High Court stating that her husband was arrested a day earlier than the official arrest.
Stated to be an activist of the MQM, he was alleged to have facilitated the murderers of Dr Farooq to reach London from Karachi and arranged for their stay there. The MQM, however, categorically denied he was an activist of the organization.
