Wajid elected Asian Badminton Development body chief
LAHORE: Wajid Ali Chaudhry, Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF), has been elected as Chairman Development Committee of Badminton Asia (B.A.) for next four years in the Elective Annual General Meeting of B.A held at Nanning, China.
Vice-President of PBF Tayyab Suhail said that it is an honour for Pakistan and definitely due to his never ending services for badminton that he is selected for this post. He is the first Pakistan official to be elected for this coveted post of Badminton Asia. PBF will host the Pakistan International Series Badminton Tournament from 7-10 November, 2019 at Islamabad. Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia have approved this international event and included in the BWF Calendar of Events 2019. It will be also 2020 Olympic Qualifying tournament.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen (retd) Syed Arif Hasan, President Pakistan Olympic Association and the entire Olympic Family, congratulated Wajid for this great achievement and wish him all the success in his national and international endeavours.
Wajid Ali Chaudhry has been associated with the sports of badminton for over decades and his transformation from an extraordinary athlete to a successful leader is a great example of Athletes Career Transition. He has also remained the Chairman, Athletes Commission of POA.
