More food outlets fined for not following hygiene standards
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Tuesday served notices on the food outlets after public complaints.
The action was taken after a journalist filed compliant over social media and authority’s website.
Assistant Director Asad Ali said that several food handlers were checked in the Khyber Super Market in the provincial capital and improvement notices were served, said a press release.
It added that Chatkhara Food was fined Rs25,000 over non-compliance with food safety standards.
On the other hand, a fine of Rs1.2 million has been imposed across the province in various operations carried against food factories, bakers and other outlets dealing with eatables.
In Swat, Deputy Director Asad Qasim imposed a fine of Rs400,000 on the Zia Chemicals over violation of safety standards.
Similarly, Assistant Director Adeel Nouman also checked the canteen of Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad and fined it Rs400,000 for not following basic standards of hygiene.
About Rs250,000 were also imposed on two other outlets over violation of the standards.
Several hundred litres of adulterated milk were also destroyed. In Bannu, Amir
Bakers was fined Rs100,000 for using non-food grade colours.
