Kensington Palace releases statement clarifying role of Prince William’s new aide
Reports claimed Prince William is strengthening his inner circle ahead of Prince Harry’s UK return
Kensington Palace has released a new statement to clear why Prince William has hired communications expert Liza Ravenscroft amid claims he did so to deal with Prince Harry.
According to a report by GB News, the palace has played down any suggestion of a crisis after reports claimed William was strengthening his inner circle ahead of Harry’s expected return.
They said the appointment of communications professional Liza Ravenscroft is a routine addition to the press office.
"Liza is joining in a non-crisis-based role in the KP press office, working on the day-to-day press interaction Kensington Palace has,” the insider said.
"People who work in communications for the Royal Household come from an array of backgrounds."
However, another source said Ravenscroft’s close connections with senior royal staff have led to talk that the move is meant to bring Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace closer together.
"Julian Payne has stayed close to the King, so it is unlikely to be a coincidence that one of his most senior and respected members of staff has taken a key role in William's office after a period of turmoil - and when they are looking for closer alignment between Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace as minds turn to William's eventual succession," they said.
