You say electric, I say not
February 04, 2018
This refers to the letter ‘Electric bicycles’ (Jan 29) by Air-Cdre (r) Azfar Khan. According to the writer, e-bicycles have a lot of health benefits, especially in the context of cardiac rehabilitation. The fact is that e-bicycles do not provide any kind of exercise at all since these vehicles are run on charged batteries and cyclists do not have to pedal.
People would simply sit on it and go on a ride – much like a motorcycle. The only time they will ever get any exercise is when the battery gets discharged and they are forced to pedal. The good thing about e-bicycles is that it gives people the option to pedal and switch over to electric power whenever they want.
