PDA inaugurates Food Street with music concert

PESHAWAR: A music concert was arranged in Hayatabad Phase 6 Saturday night on the occasion of the inauguration of the much-delayed Food Street.

However, some people criticized the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) for organizing the mixed gathering in which young girls and boys were seen clapping and enjoying the evening.

Most people living in the neighbourhood in Phase 6 Hayatabad had little idea as to what was going on. Many thought it was a wedding because the music was loud.

The PDA had been working on this project since long and the shops at the Food Street had already been built. It has now been finally inaugurated, but it remains to be seen if the Food Street would be able to attract food lovers in sufficient numbers to make it commercially viable.

A musician with long hair sang Punjabi songs and attracted attention of the youngsters, both male and female, who attended the concert. A blogger said the mixed musical programme was “totally shameful and should be condemned.”
