A gangster associated with the Baba Ladla group of Lyari gang war was shot dead in an encounter with police at a place called Jumman Shah Plot late on Friday night.
Kalakot police SHO Ghulam Yaseen said the shootout started when police came under fire as they arrived at Jumman Shah Plot over a tip-off about the presence of Baba Ladla group’s members there.
The police retaliated and killed one gangster but other suspects fled the scene. The dead, identified as Hasnain, was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for a postmortem. Hasnain was alleged to be involved in extorting citizens, kidnappings for ransom and the sale of drugs.
