Without supervision

The nation celebrated the country’s Independence Day on Monday. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s tireless efforts resulted in the creation of this independent country. However, it is unfortunate that since our independence, we have not utilised our resources in an efficient manner. In 1971, the Dhaka fall became a dark chapter of our history. Later, the country became the hub of terrorism. We lost tens of thousands of innocent people in various suicide attacks carried out on roads, near private and government organisations, and in religious places.

Being exposed to such violent incidents from a young age, the new generation adopted the politics of violence. The lawlessness in the country has left the youth scot-free. Now these young men are not afraid of the law. They like breaking the law and living their lives according to their own wishes. This is why on events like Independence Day roads are found littered with young men enjoying the day without having any regard to the problems faced by other people. They block roads and cause traffic jams. Unfortunately, our festivals and anniversaries have now been marked with gigantic amount of hooliganism. It becomes rather impossible to ply on roads in the presence of those motorcyclists, who, in an attempt to showcase their acrobatic skills, put their own lives as well as others to great dangers. They don’t understand the dangerous consequences of their carelessness. Every year, hospitals announced many cases of accident in which young people suffer from permanent disability because of an unfortunate accident. Why do we put our precious lives in danger? Is this how civilised countries celebrate a national day? The need of the hour is to introduce a law that prohibits any such activities on main arteries. This much-needed step will help save the lives of young motorcyclists.
