Punjab CM takes notice of aerial firing, case registered

LAHORE: The security guards of Ameer Balaj Tipu, son of late Arif Ameer alias Tipu Truckanwala, fired into the air after a court granted bail to Balaj in a murder case of his cousin.

Deafening sounds of gunfire echoed in and around the dera of Balaj when his armed men did jubilant firing after Balaj was granted bail in a murder case registered against him in Gawalmandi police station following a property dispute.After th news of Balaj’s bail, his armed men opened firing in the air with automatic weapons from the second floor of their house in Shah Alami.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered the DIG Operations to take appropriate action against the culprits of firing.  He said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

A case of firing in the air has been registered under the relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) as well as the Anti-Terrorism Act for endangering lives. Balaj’s father, Tipu Truckanwala, was shot dead in the parking area of Allama Iqbal International Airport in January 2010 after he arrived from Dubai. The incident was stated to be the result of a gang-related rivalry.
