YDA distances itself from illegal kidney transplantation
LAHORE
The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab has distanced itself from illegal kidney transplantation and declared that the involving of its senior office-bearer in the case was his personal act, and condemned the atrocious act of illegal organ transplantation.
The YDA while holding a meeting of General Council at Lahore General Hospital Monday in the wake of incident of illegal renal transplant involving its General Secretary Dr Ealtamush Kharal, stated the YDA disassociated itself from anyone’s personal act even if he/she is member and office-bearer of the association.
“The YDAP condemns this act of illegal organs transplantation and we demand strict check and balance to stop these incidents in future,” says a statement issued by YDA after conclusion of its meeting jointly chaired by President Dr Maroof Vaince and Chairman Dr Haider Akhtar and attended by all presidents of YDA’s provincial chapters.
They said YDA’s General Secretary Dr Ealtamush Kharal had denied the allegations in his media speech and his family also termed it a government’s act of victimisation against him. He was called on phone by one of his friends just 15 minutes before the raid and ensuing arrest. He was not in OT dress while all others were in OT dress.
The YDA said that the government had all human and mechanical resources to plot any kind of trap against doctors as they were trying to stop movement against privatisation and Central Induction Policy (CIP) in the near future as the past was replete with such examples of victimisation close to any such movement against the government.
They announced YDA Punjab was waiting for final report and proofs of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). However, they informed, YDA has formed a committee of senior members to probe the allegations of government and statements of its general secretary and his lawyers. “If he is proved to be guilty he will no more be part of YDAP,” declares YDA, while demanding the FIA and the government to let YDA’s committee meet Dr Ealtamush complete the inquiry. They said YDA never supported any illegal activity, but at the same time, they can’t tolerate any further victimisation and attempts to malign YDA on the basis of an individual’s act.
Meanwhile, they reassured the doctors’ community to continue its struggle against privatisation of public health sector and disgrace the medical professionals as well as to demand free treatment and medicines for the poor patients, regularisation of ad hoc doctors and Rs 20,000 risk allowance to doctors and resolve the issue of Medical Officers of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) 2013.
