Border in SWA yet to reopen
WANA: Despite the announcement made by the prime minister to reopen the border with Afghanistan, the Pak-Afghan border at Angoor Adda in South Waziristan Agency remained closed on Wednesday.
The sources said elders in Paktika province of Afghanistan had organised a function to celebrate the reopening of the border.
Wargon and other adjoining areas of Paktika province along with border with South Waziristan were facing shortage of food items due to the closure of border. The prices of food items in these areas had sky-rocketed after the border closure.
The tribal elders asked the prime minister, army chief and other functionaries to take notice of the situation. They said reopening of the border in Angoor Adda would help resolve the food shortage issue in these areas.
