Princess Margaret claimed King Charles was ‘problem’ in Diana marriage
Princess Margaret felt Princess Diana was wrong during marriage to King Charles
Princess Margaret shared her two cents about Princess Diana and King Charles’ marriage while she was still alive.
Queen Elizabeth II’s only sister, Margaret, blamed nephew Charles for mistreating Diana from the beginning of their marriage.
“The trouble was that he undermined her [Diana] consistently from the start, and gave her no support,” reportedly Margaret told Royal biographer, Hugo Vickers. “Then he began to get difficult over the children, which was the cause of all the trouble last year.”
Margaret then compared Diana’s marriage to that of her own with Tony Snowdon.
“It was the same with me and Tony [Lord Snowdon]. He undermined me.”
Princess Margaret then went on to discourage Diana’s return with the Royals on Christmas 1993 in Sandringham.
“I don’t know why she wanted to come back [to Sandringham],” she told Vickers, per the author. “I longed to tell her to go away.”
