Tiger Woods breaks silence after DUI arrest: 'I am stepping away'
The golfer pleaded not guilty to his DUI charge
Tiger Woods has released his statement for the first time since his arrest on suspicion of DUI after his car rollover accident.
The pro-golfer took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) and revealed that he is planning to seek treatment and will briefly step away from golf to focus on his health.
"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," Woods wrote on Tuesday, March 31.
"I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery."
He went on to say, "I'm committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally."
Woods added, "I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."
For those unversed, Wood was taken under custody on March 27, as he was speeding down a street and crashed into a truck, causing his Range Rover to roll over, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported at the time.
After the accident, the golfer's breath analyzer test showed "triple zeros."
Budensiek claimed Woods appeared “lethargic on scene because of what he was intoxicated on."
However, the golfer was released the same day
