Woman’s body found in open drain

LAHORE

A 30-year-old woman was found dead in an open drain in the Kahna area on Saturday.

Passersby spotted the body of the woman floating in the nullah and informed police. Police said there were no marks of torture on the body. Police suspected that some unidentified persons might have killed her and later dumped her body in the nullah. Police have shifted the body to morgue and registered a case.

Police: The inspector general of police, Punjab, has said that the police force would have to prove themselves capable of facing any challenge while protecting the lives of players and citizens and maintaining law and order during the final of PSL. Addressing a meeting at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Saturday, he said that the officers and officials of Punjab police did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives to maintain law and order in the past.

He hoped that they would make all out-effort to serve and protect the citizens on the occasion of PSL final. He directed the officers to brief the deployed force on the gravity of the situation and asked them to be polite with the citizens.
