HAFIZABAD: The relatives of a seven-year-old girl who was murdered after rape took out a rally against the police for not arresting the culprits.
The protesters, including women, marched from Mian Da Kot to Fawara Chowk. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the police. They also chanted slogans against the police. They demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits. They were led by Sunni Tehrik divisional president Syed Usman Haider, Sunni Ittehad Council district president Maulana Badruz Zaman Tarar, Powerlooms Workers Union president Muhammad Zaman. Later, they gathered at Fawara Chowk and staged a sit-in for over two hours, blocking traffic. Sadr DSP Malik Khuda Yar reached the spot and assured the protesters that the accused would be arrested soon. He said that the case had already been registered and few suspects were being interrogated.

HAFIZABAD: The City police have registered a case against six people on the charge of kidnapping a first year student.
Iftikhar Ahmad of Dhingranwali Village told police that his daughter Tahira Shahzadi went to a tuition centre about 12 days ago, but did not return home. He alleged that Seth Nasir Zargar, Rashida and their three accomplices had kidnapped his daughter. He demanded immediate arrest of the kidnappers and recovery of his daughter. Earlier, the police showed reluctance in registering the case. However, a case was registered on the intervention of MPA Fiaz Ahmad Awan.
