Rizwan, Palwasha, Mahoor into Nepal badminton quarter-finals
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Rizwan Azam, Palwasha Bashir and Mahoor Shahzad reached the quarter-finals of men’s singles and women’s singles events in Nepal International Series Badminton Tournament.
According to the details made available here, the seasoned duo of Rizwan and Kashif Sulhari qualified for men’s doubles quarter-finals.
Palwasha and Saima Waqas secured a spot in women’s doubles quarter-finals.
Pakistan’s three male and as many female shuttlers are featuring in the tournament in Katmandu.
Rizwan defeated Duc Giung of Vietnam by 21-17, 21-17 in men’s singles event to enter quarter-finals where he will meet Abhisk Yelegar of India. Palwasha thrashed Nafha Nasrullah of Maldives by 21-4, 21-8. Mahoor Shahzad pulled an upset against local fourth seed player Nangsal Tamang, recording a 21-18, 21-19 victory after a tough battle.
Palwasha will face Iran’s Aghaei Hajiagha. Mahoor will take on Devi Yunita Indah Sari of Indonesia in the quarter-finals.
In men doubles quarter-final, Rizwan and Kashif will play against Dipesh Dhami and Ratnajit Tamang of Nepal. Palwasha and Saima will play against Anoushka Parikh and Harika Veludurthi of India in the quarter-final.
