Four passengers held at airport for money, drug smuggling

Four passengers were arrested at the Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday in two separate operations by law enforcers.
Customs officials arrested three men at the airport after foreign currency and gold ornaments worth over 79 million rupees were found on them. According to details, the passengers, who are said to be frequent travellers, were going to Dubai via Emirates Airline, flight no EK609.
During the search of their luggage, officials found 10 kilogramme gold ornaments and foreign currency hidden in their baggage. An FIR was lodged against them and further investigation is under progress.
The other action was taken by the ANF during which a Pakistani passenger was arrested at the airport after over four-and-a-half kilogramme heroin was found on him. The man was travelling from Karachi to Dubai and Jeddah.
During the search of his luggage, four-and-a-half kilogramme heroin was found, which was concealed in a marble decorative.
Mishaps claim five lives
Dr Tariq, 35, died after his motorcycle was hit by a water tanker near the Lyari Basti in the Surjani Town police limits.
In the Sadar police area, 68-year-old Shamsher Khan was run over by a vehicle near the Regent Bridge. An unidentified man, said to be 35 years old, lost his life after his motorbike was struck by a vehicle in the SITE-A police jurisdiction.
Another motorcyclist, said to be 30 years old, died as a result of a crash with a vehicle at the National Highway in the Shah Lateef Town police limits.
One more man who could not identified immediately died after coming under the wheels of a train near Dhabeji area in the Landhi Railway Station. The man was said to be 35 years old.
In SITE-B area, 35-year-old Kamran died from electrocution as a wire fell on him, while he was going towards his factory.
