Pindi CPO transferred, reinstated within hours
RAWALPINDI: In a move on part of senior high-ups of the police here on Sunday, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi was first transferred from his office and within few hours was reinstated back as CPO Rawalpindi.
It happened for the second time during his tenure that his transfer orders as the CPO were withdrawn due to unknown reasons. Sources told The News that the story behind all this exercise was that some officials of a bank and a security agency were implicated after a bank heist in the precincts of Westridge Police Station under Punjab Vulnerable Security Ordinance and they were arrested and put behind the bars.
Later, the accused persons were presented before a court in handcuffs and that made some influential elements annoyed. The matter was taken up at higher level and a two-member CM inspection team conducted an inquiry in DCO office.
According to sources the team recorded statements of the accused persons, SP Potohar, DSP Cantt, SHO Westridge and investigation officer. The RPO and CPO also met the team.
