SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of the Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while condemning the unabated killing of civilians in Kashmir as shameful, has said that the Indian armed forces have turned the entire Valley into a battlefield with target killings.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said the people across the territory, including Srinagar, were not being allowed to offer prayers even in the historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar and main mosques of other localities.
He said the pro-India regime only cared about staying in power, and it would go to any extent for hanging on to the chair. The Mirwaiz lauded the people for showing consistency and steadfastness.
After a month, people continue to follow the unified pro-freedom leadership’s programmes, he said. “This will have a permanent effect on the ongoing resistance movement. The day is not far when they will see the dawn of a new revolution and fulfillment of their right to self-determination,” he said.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed concern that in several areas some mischievous and anti-movement elements were working overtime to give a bad name to the ongoing uprising. They, he said, were trying to create discord among the people and trying to rake up communal and sectarian issues. He asked the people to beware of these elements, saying that the Sikh and Pandit community of Kashmir were an inseparable part of the Kashmiri society.
