PPP slams PTI’s August 5 protest as ‘political theatrics’
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Muhammad Humayun Khan has strongly criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s planned protest on August 5, terming it a “failed attempt to mislead the public” and “nothing more than political theatrics”.
“The country today needs unity, stability, and progress — not protests driven by political point-scoring. This protest will achieve nothing; it is simply another act in PTI’s long-running political drama,” he remarked in a statement issued on Sunday.
The PPP Secretary General asserted that real solutions to public issues can only be achieved through constitutional, legal, and parliamentary means. “PTI’s track record is riddled with broken promises, baseless allegations, and constant confrontations with state institutions,” he said.
“The August 5 protest is just a continuation of that negative politics, aimed at confusing the public and exerting undue pressure on national institutions,” he added.
Reaffirming the PPP’s commitment to democratic principles, Humayun Khan said, “The PPP has always resolved national challenges through parliament, the Constitution, and democratic norms — and we will continue to guide the nation with the same democratic spirit in the future.”
