ANF seizes Rs396m drugs across country
A passenger attempting to travel to Qatar was caught with 680 grams of ice concealed in his luggage
LAHORE: In a fresh wave of anti-narcotics operations, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has carried out multiple successful raids across the country, seizing over 362 kilograms of illegal drugs and arresting three suspects involved in trafficking activities.
The seized contraband including ice, heroin, morphine and marijuana is estimated to be worth more than Rs396.7 million in the local market. The ANF launched coordinated actions in various cities targeting both international and domestic drug smuggling operations.
At the Islamabad International Airport, a passenger attempting to travel to Qatar was caught with 680 grams of ice concealed in his luggage. He was immediately arrested. At Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, ANF officials intercepted a suspicious parcel intended for Bahrain and recovered 500 grams of crystal meth. In another operation, the agency tracked a courier parcel at a private office in Multan. Upon inspection, the package, which had arrived from Thailand and was to be delivered in Layyah was found to contain 7.002 kilograms of marijuana. In Lahore, near the BRB Canal, two motorcyclists were intercepted and found carrying two kilograms of ice.
In a significant bust in Loralai, Balochistan, ANF personnel discovered a massive haul of drugs hidden in a residential area near Dera Ghazi Khan Road. The cache included 148 kilograms of morphine and 204 kilograms of heroin, allegedly stored for future smuggling.
All the cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) Act, and further investigations are ongoing to trace the networks behind these smuggling attempts. The ANF has reaffirmed its commitment to curbing drug trafficking and dismantling the organized crime networks that fuel the illegal narcotics trade.
