QUETTA: Following recent tensions between Iran and Israel, the return of Pakistani pilgrims, students, and other citizens from Iran through the Taftan and Gwadar borders is continuing.
On Wednesday, a convoy of five buses carrying around 200 people arrived in Quetta from Taftan. Among them were 80 pilgrims and 120 students who had earlier reached Taftan by bus from Iran. The local administration in Quetta has arranged accommodation and food for the arriving students and pilgrims.
According to the Quetta commissioner, the group was brought to Quetta under strict security measures.
In Gwadar, the return of Pakistani citizens through the Gabd-Rimdan border crossing is also ongoing. On Wednesday, another 188 people, including students, pilgrims and tourists, crossed into Pakistan from Iran via the Toffti border post.
Since June 12, a total of 5,004 Pakistani nationals have returned from Iran. Over the past two days alone, approximately 907 individuals have arrived in Quetta from Taftan.
The newly arrived individuals are expected to travel to Islamabad, Punjab, and Karachi on Thursday.
