Teyana Taylor breaks silence on Julia Roberts telling her to 'eat a sandwich' at the 2026 Golden Globes
Teyana Taylor has revealed how she reacted when Julia Roberts asked her to “eat a sandwich” at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
For those unaware, the 35-year-old American singer, songwriter, actress, model, dancer, and choreographer met her favourite celebrity, Roberts, for the first time at the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
In the viral clip of their interaction, the Notting Hill star can be heard calling Taylor, who was visibly moved, “teeny tiny” and then jokingly added, “You need to eat a sandwich,” as they met.
The Rip star appeared on the Wednesday, January 14 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she admitted to taking Roberts’ remarks as a compliment.
Voicing her thoughts, she said, “I’ve seen people trying to get on her about that. I was like, ‘Hold on.’ She told me I needed a sandwich because she couldn’t find my waist. She was like, ‘Girl, you need a sandwich.’ It was so cute.”
Taylor then went on to excitedly tell the host that her meeting with the After the Hunt actress “was so amazing. I just remember her parting the sea for me. She came through like Moses.”
“She was floating. It was so scary how perfectly she was floating. I just dived into her arms. It was just the cutest moment and I started crying,” she shared.
It is pertinent to mention that Teyana Taylor secured her first Golden Globes in Best Supporting Actress in the category of Motion Picture for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in the 2025 black comedy action thriller film One Battle After Another.
