Meghan Markle's bookmark was launched by her lifestyle brand As Ever
Meghan Markle on Tuesday debuted a limited-edition leather bookmark the Duchess of Sussex designed herself. The release marked her first product drop of the year.
The bookmark stamped in gold with the words “Fell asleep here” in Meghan’s signature handwriting is handmade from sustainably sourced, vegetable-tanned leather and priced at $18.
The bookmark was sold out 10 minutes after it was launched on As Ever website.
As Meghan's fans celebrated her achievement and praised her for turning a "quiet ritual" into a sold-out-moment, her critics claimed that the Duchess of Sussex stole the idea from another brand.
One social media user wrote, she "ordered these through a promotional gift manufacturer similar to this one. And she even stole the phrase "Fell asleep here" directly from the manufacturer."
Some pictures of other bookmarks similar to Meghan's were also circulated online after reports emerged that the Duchess of Sussex's product sold out within minutes of its launch.
