LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday carried out a significant reshuffle in the provincial bureaucracy, transferring three senior Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) officers to reposition leadership across the Home, Housing, and Cooperatives departments.
According to the official notification, Capt. (retd) Asad Ullah Khan (PAS/BS-21), previously serving as Secretary, Housing Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Department, has been relieved of his duties and directed to report to the S&GAD. Though no immediate assignment has been announced for him, the transfer signals a change in leadership as part of the broader administrative overhaul.
Capt. (retd) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal (PAS/BS-21), who held the charge of Secretary, Home Department, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Housing Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Department in place of Capt. (retd) Asad Ullah Khan. The position will remain upgraded from BS-20 to BS-21 as a personal entitlement for Mr. Mengal during his tenure.
In a parallel development, Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi (PAS/BS-21), serving as Secretary, Cooperatives Department, has been appointed as Secretary, Home Department, replacing Capt. (retd) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal. The Home Department post, too, shall remain upgraded from BS-20 to BS-21 for Dr. Qazi as long as he holds the position—underscoring the seniority and strategic importance of the role, particularly in the context of law and order and provincial security coordination. The reshuffle does not indicate any new permanent assignment for Capt. (retd.) Asad Ullah Khan as yet.
