As Pakistan’s armed forces stand guard, showcasing their mettle on the frontlines and deterring adversaries with unwavering resolve, a pressing question looms large: how can citizens defend their turf when the chips are down? The recent Indian incursion underscores the imperative of preparedness, highlighting the need for citizens to be battle-ready. While our military’s prowess is the envy of many, earning global accolades for bravery and strategic triumphs, the preparedness of citizens remains a glaring concern. Initiatives like the National Cadet Corps (NCC) once provided valuable training in basic defence skills.
However, this programme was put on the backburner. Reviving NCC or similar programmes is crucial in today’s volatile landscaper. By imparting self-defence skills to citizens, particularly young people, we can bolster national resilience.
