PTI demands Imran’s release to ‘mobilise, unite nation’
PTI leadership emphasised that under Modi’s leadership, India emerged as growing threat to regional peace
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political and core committees Thursday demanded the immediate and unconditional release of ‘unlawfully imprisoned’ party founder, Imran Khan.
The two forums, during the meeting, emphasized that Imran’s leadership was not only indispensable but also vital for the survival and cohesion of the Pakistani nation at this defining moment.
Sharing the details of the meeting, which deliberated on the political and security situation in the country, PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said the meeting contended that the party supremo’s unmatched ability to mobilise and unite the nation, his credibility on national security and his unwavering resolve were unmatched.
He cautioned that silencing and keeping the former prime minister in solitary confinement at such a critical time was not only a miscarriage of justice but an enmity against the state and people. The meeting, he noted, raised the alarm that at a time when Pakistan stood at a critical crossroads and had been placed on high alert amid escalating threats and war-mongering rhetoric from India, “the country’s most trusted and popular leader remained unjustly imprisoned, while the country is being run by a silent and oblivious government”.
The PTI leadership emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India—driven by the extremist ideology of RSS—has emerged as a growing threat to regional peace. “We unequivocally condemn this warmongering and expansionist ambitions that imperil regional stability,” he said. He said that as Imran Khan has made clear: “Peace is our priority, but it must not be mistaken for weakness.”
Therefore, Waqas said, the participants pressed that the PTI, with the full support of people, demand Imran Khan’s immediate release so that the nation can unite in the defence of its sacred borders.
