Rawalpindi court awards life sentence in child rape case
Rawalpindi: An Additional District and Sessions Court in Rawalpindi has awarded life imprisonment to a man convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl.
According to court proceedings, Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi found 40-year-old Raheel Ahmed guilty under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The verdict was issued upon completion of the trial.
The case was registered at Ratta Amral Police Station on December 29, 2023. As per the FIR, the accused sexually assaulted the minor girl who was studying under his supervision. Upon conclusion of the trial, the court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 200,000. In case of non-payment, the convict will serve an additional six months in prison. The court also directed the accused to pay Rs 500,000 as compensation to the victim.
