Rs3.98m cash awards for 199 cops

LAHORE:In a bid to encourage police officers and personnel demonstrating excellent performance, Punjab police has issued cash rewards worth Rs3.98 million and commendation certificates for 199 officers and personnel.

The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing the details, said that each officer and personnel has been awarded a cash prize of Rs20,000 along with a commendation certificate. Among those receiving the rewards are 17 ASIs, 23 Head Constables, 142 Constables, and 17 Lady Constables.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the officers and personnel performed their duties excellently to maintain law and order and to protect the lives and properties of the public. Duty-conscious and courageous officers and personnel imbued with the spirit of public service are the real asset of Punjab Police. IG Punjab further said that the process of encouraging officers and personnel with outstanding performance will continue at all levels.

464 combing operations conducted

In view of the current security situation, Punjab Police is conducting intelligence-based search, sweep, and combing operations across the province. In continuation of these efforts, during the last 24 hours, 464 combing operations were conducted, 15,054 suspicious individuals were checked, and 57 suspects were taken into custody. Punjab Police spokesperson said that 41 search and sweep operations were conducted, 2,160 individuals were interrogated, and 4 suspects were arrested.

418 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, 165 court absconders, and 105 habitual criminals were also arrested. A large quantity of illegal weapons and bullets were recovered from the possession of criminals and suspects. During operations against criminal elements, 3 criminals and 1 police official were injured. IG Punjab said that mock exercises of Punjab Police are also ongoing to suppress terrorists and criminal elements. Punjab Police, CTD, Special Branch, Elite Force, Rescue 1122, and teams from law enforcement agencies are participating in these mock exercises.
