Pakistan eyes export of value-added wheat products
Export of modern wheat derivatives will enhance economic returns, encourage innovation says Minister
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said on Wednesday the government was actively considering the export of value-added wheat products as part of its efforts to strengthen the country’s agriculture-driven economy.
Speaking about his ministry’s ongoing efforts, Hussain said Pakistan was exploring international markets for processed wheat-based goods, aiming to shift from traditional grain exports to high-end, value-added products.
“The move is expected to not only increase foreign exchange earnings but also generate employment and improve farmers incomes,” a news statement issued here by the ministry said.
The export of modern wheat derivatives will enhance economic returns, encourage innovation, and contribute to sustainable growth in the wheat sector, said the minister. “We are committed to modernising the entire wheat value chain and linking it with global markets,” he added.
