Man booked for threatening SHO
NOWSHERA: Police on Tuesday booked a man under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly entering a mosque with a rifle and hurling serious threats at a police official by using the loudspeaker.
The incident prompted immediate police action after a video went viral on social media. It showed an alleged drug dealer, Khad Ali alias Khadogay, in the jurisdiction of Akora Khattak Police Station, Nowshera, issuing death threats to the Station House Officer (SHO) Ashfaq Khan through a mosque loudspeaker in the Suryakhel area.
The police said the accused was a drug dealer who was already wanted in multiple cases. He entered a local mosque armed and wearing shoes. The suspect used the mosque’s loudspeaker to publicly challenge the SHO.
In the video, the suspect could be heard using threatening language, warning: “People should keep their children safe. If anyone gets harmed in a shooting incident, I will not be held responsible.” The accused also continued to hurl abusive language and threats at the SHO.
Police spokesperson Turk Ali Shah stated that the suspect had several serious criminal cases, including drug trafficking, registered against him in various police stations and had long been addicted to drugs. He said the police had been conducting raids for several days to apprehend him. Another case was registered against the suspect after the incident.
The SHO stated that the suspect’s abusive language and death threats had deeply hurt his dignity, adding that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
