IGP assures business community of security, resolution of other issues
Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Friday held a meeting with a seven-member delegation of the Bin Qasim Association of Commerce and Industry at the Central Police Office and assured them of resolving their issues, including providing security.
The delegation was led by President Shakeel Ashfaq. The association's co-founder Usman Ahmed, former president Abdul Rashid Jan Muhammad, former senior vice president Ashraf Bawani and secretary general Abdul Rehman Ismail, in addition to the DIG Establishment, IT, AIG Operations Sindh, attended the meeting. The DIGs of the Special Branch and SPU, the SSPs of Foreigners Security Malir and Malir Traffic participated through video link.
The delegation informed the meeing about the issue of heavy traffic near the Bin Qasim Industrial Area and Zone, security of foreign guests, increase in police patrols and other unresolved issues. It was stated that the area is about 30,000 acres, while hundreds of heavy industries, in addition to steel mills, are located within the premises of this industrial zone.
The delegation said that at night, parking on the roads of heavy traffic increases difficulties for the traffic coming out of the industries. They requested that all necessary steps be taken to increase police patrols in the internal areas and around the industries.
IGP Memon said the traffic police are ensuring strict and effective measures for heavy traffic and other kinds of traffic, while on the request of the Sindh police, the Karachi commissioner has allowed heavy traffic to enter the city from 11pm to 6am. He further said the DIGs Special Branch and SPU are ensuring all measures related to providing security to foreign guests and delegates under coordinated contacts.
The IGP said we want the police and the business community to solve the problems in collaboration. He instructed the SSP Malir to increase police patrols in the areas adjacent to Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry and in this regard special focus should be placed on consultation with the business community and their suggestions.
He said the business community should contact the AIG Operations Sindh in case of traffic, theft or any other complaint. Furthermore, he ordered the SSP Traffic Malir to eliminate unnecessary parking of heavy traffic in collaboration with Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry.
