LAHORE:A lawyer was shot dead outside his house in Chuhng’s Sultan Town on Monday morning, allegedly over a long-standing dispute.
Advocate Mian Naveed was returning home after dropping his children at school in his car when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire near his house. He died on the spot, while the shooters managed to escape. Police officials rushed to the scene and launched an investigation, securing CCTV footage and other evidence. Naveed’s body was shifted to the morgue.
Police sources revealed that the victim had divorced his first wife and had remarried two years ago. Additionally, he was pursuing an eight-year-old case, which could have been a factor in his murder.
Investigators noted that Naveed had survived a previous assassination attempt, and his cousin was also murdered some time ago—a case he was actively following. Furthermore, he had ongoing property disputes with adversaries.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Mian Muhammad Jamil, submitted an application to Chuhng Police Station, seeking registration of a case. He claimed that his son was shot by unidentified motorcyclists, whom he could recognise if presented before him. Police have obtained Safe City footage to identify the suspects.
