LAHORE: Desert Camels Fort Abbas claimed the 10th Servis Tyres 15-a-side Rugby Championship trophy despite losing their final league match of the event to Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) 37-34 in a thrilling contest here at the on Lahore Cantt Ground on Sunday.
The champions secured the league title by winning three out of their four matches in the tournament, hosted by Pakistan Rugby Union. LRFC mounted a strong challenge, leading 24-10 at halftime with tries from Wasim (2), Ali Shahid and Sufyan. Desert Camels’ Ali and Arsalan scored one try each in the first half.
The second half saw Desert Camels stage a comeback through tries from Qayyum, Mohsin and Saqlain, while LRFC’s Khalid scored twice to help secure their team’s victory. Pakistan Rugby Union President Chaudhry Arif Saeed, who was the chief guest, gave away the prizes.
