Protective bail for Shahram, Faisal extended
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday extended the protective bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and Member National Assembly Shahram Tarakai and Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Faisal Khan Tarakai.
The two-member bench, consisting of Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Waqar Ahmed, also issued an order preventing their arrest by relevant authorities. The petitioners’ lawyer, Mohammad Asif Babar, told the court that the petitioners had filed appeals seeking details of the cases registered against them.
On January 21, he said, the court had requested a report from the federal government regarding the cases, but the written order did not mention the extension of protective bail. And hence, he pleaded, the court to grant a protective bail.
After hearing the argument, the court extended the protective bail for Shahram Trakai and Faisal Khan Tarakai, directing the authorities not to arrest them in any ongoing case until the next hearing. The court also ordered the federal government and relevant agencies to submit a detailed report of the cases.
