A joint intelligence-based operation conducted by Rangers and police led to the arrest of a highly wanted Lyari gang war member in the Baloch Colony area on Monday.

The suspect, identified as Habib Ali alias Haseeb Mota, is reportedly involved in numerous cases of drug trafficking, extortion, and other criminal activities tied to the Lyari Gang War. During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized weapons, ammunition, and drugs from his possession.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, Mota hadconnections with the banned Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), playing a key role in facilitating and funding the organisation. He joined the Lyari Gang War in 2012 under commander Bahadur PMT and had been actively involved in criminal activities since then.

Haseeb had a history of arrests and multiple FIRs registered against him at various Lyari police stations. Despite being jailed previously, he resumed large-scale drug trafficking operations upon his release. He maintained ties with BLF operatives, including Zaman Baloch, Shoaib Baloch, Sami Baloch, Ausaf Baloch, and Jumma Baloch, all linked to the 2023 killing of law enforcement officer Naik Dilshad.

The suspect also maintained contact with Lyari Gang War commander Bahadur PMT, who operates from abroad, and executed criminal directives on his behalf. Mota, along with the recovered weapons, ammunition, and drugs, had been handed over to the police for further legal action. This arrest marked a significant step in curbing organised crime and dismantling gang networks in Karachi.
