Two cops suspended for torturing youth

MALAKWAL: Mandi Bahauddin DPO Waseem Riaz suspended two constables for torturing a youth.

The DPO took notice after the video of the torture on a youth went viral on social media and suspended constables Aqib and Babar of the Mandi Bahauddin City police station. The DPO constituted an inquiry committee, which would thoroughly investigate the matter and submit a report. The victim, Muhammad Owais Ali, a resident of Kathiala Syedan, said that on the night of November 29, Constable Babar along with other officials forcibly picked him up from the shop and took him outside and allegedly tortured him. On the other hand, the police sources said that Owais had uploaded a video of aerial firing on social media. To it, constables Aqib and Babar arrested him and allegedly tortured him.Meanwhile, district police spokesperson Ajmal Waheed Gill said that further action would be taken after the completion of the inquiry.
