HerSpace, in collaboration with the Chanan Development Association (CDA) and the National Alliance of Youth Associations, hosted the GENNEXT Youth COP Simulation Our Future, Our Voices, a significant event aimed at empowering Sindh’s youth to take the lead in climate action and policy advocacy.
The event, which was held at the National Incubation Center, Hyderabad, served as a platform to bridge global climate diplomacy with the region’s local environmental challenges. The simulation brought together representatives from 15 youth-led organizations and introduced participants to the dynamics of international climate negotiations, including the Conference of the Parties (COP) framework.
A core component of the event was the unveiling of the Charter of Demands, a collaborative policy document proposing actionable updates to the Sindh Youth Policy 2018. This charter emphasized the need for inclusive, gender-responsive, and climate-resilient policies, highlighting education and youth empowerment as critical elements for addressing the climate crisis.
The participants engaged in discussions and activities that enhanced their leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills. The event also emphasized the interconnectedness of global climate strategies with Sindh’s specific environmental challenges, fostering innovative and localized solutions.
Speaking at the event, Roshni Anwar, Founder of HerSpace, emphasized that, youth are at the forefront of the climate crisis, and their voices are essential in shaping policies that address the urgency of this issue. This initiative equips them with the tools to lead from the front, ensuring that their perspectives drive sustainable change
The GENNEXT: Youth COP Simulation stands as a transformative step toward preparing Sindh’s youth as climate leaders. By combining knowledge of international frameworks with a focus on local realities, the event aims to inspire collective action and create a foundation for impactful climate policies. This initiative underscores the power of youth-led advocacy in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
