Survey of 4,700 govt houses completed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: On the direction of the federal cabinet, the Estate Office in collaboration with the Intelligence Bureau has completed a survey of “policy and condition violations” by allottees of government houses in Islamabad. The survey was launched on May 11 and was completed in five months.
According to sources, three survey teams surveyed a total of 4,700 government houses. The report revealed that 313 houses were illegally occupied, 193 houses were partially rented out and 1,125 allottees made additional constructions in the houses.
In the light of the survey, Estate Office Islamabad has got 268 houses vacated. Among these houses, there are 101 houses from category one to four, while there are 167 houses from type A to I.
The federal cabinet had ordered the Ministry of Housing and Construction in the meeting of April 26, 2024 to conduct a survey of government houses in collaboration with the IB and identify illegal occupation and illegal constructions in them.
