LAHORE:The City witnessed the so far hottest day of the month as mercury reached 45°C here on Sunday while the Met office predicted that the heatwave was likely to prevail over plain areas of the country during next two days.
Sunday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Mohenjo Daro where mercury reached 53°C while in Punjab Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Kot Addu were the hottest cities with 49°C. Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a high pressure prevailing in the upper atmosphere and was likely to persist during next two days.
