Islamabad:A three-day residential training on the ‘Effective Implementation of Sexual Harassment Laws’ concluded on Sunday at Mehergarh: A Centre for Learning.
Sitara Ayaz, former Senator from Awami National Party (ANP), was the chief guest on the occasion. The training convened representatives from various national and provincial organizations committed to addressing sexual harassment.
Prominent institutions such as the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation, Allama Iqbal Open University, National Rural Support Programme, Cotton Web Limited, AWAM Organisation, Wateen Telecom, Human Appeal, Telenor Microfinance Bank, Easypaisa, and the Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bagh participated in this training.
During the training, Maliha Husain, Executive Director at Mehergarh and the facilitator of the program, provided comprehensive insights into the definition of sexual harassment and outlined the roles and responsibilities of employees, senior management, and committee members as stipulated by law. She also elaborated on the procedural aspects and timelines for registering and resolving cases of sexual harassment within organizations.
Sitara Ayaz shared her personal experiences with the participants, emphasizing the importance of implementing sexual harassment laws and institutionalizing them across the country to ensure a safe working environment for future generations.
